Travel Tips
Courtesy Brian McCoyA lot of athletes will face the alternative of flying to Seattle or Vancouver. While airfares to Seattle are often cheaper, the cost of a rental vehicle in Canada is less (Canadian $ but roughly the same rate as US), the drive to Penticton is 3-4 hours shorter, border crossing time is more consistent - and YVR (Vancouver Airport) is a beautiful new building! A more compelling reason is the hassle of getting lost luggage from Seattle to Penticton, particularly a bike. If something is delayed to Vanc, at least it has been cleared and the airline can move it freely in the country. If flying to Seattle it still has to come in to Canada and will be scrutinized more closely. Ever seen a border guard try to fit a bike back in to a travel case?? |
