All Quiet on the Southern Front

Seven days and I have so many great memories. A few
highlights for you:
My first ride. I had heard that Port Douglas was a beautiful town. It's where the "big money" folks stay around here. Luxury resorts and golf courses. Frankly, the best part of Port Douglas is not the resorts (I didn't visit, but can imagine from my time in Asia), it is the drive north from Cairns - complete with a four-inch wide shoulder! Picture green rolling hills gently sloping to long white sandy beaches. Palm trees line the shore. Looking out across the Coral Sea, you can watch blue sky seamlessly merge with inviting ocean water. There are mango trees, parrots and cool breezes. Damn! It was a scene calling out for some erotic female companionship. Of course, the crocs can get you on the beach, the box jellyfish can get you in the water, and if there is any bat shit on that mango you are thinking about eating, you'd better think twice! At least, that's what the Queenslanders tell you. It's enough to make you wonder if they just might want it all for themselves. |
